Susan Yeaman Deal

Susan is an accomplished rider and instructor who has taught hunter seat equitation at Sweet Briar College, St. Andrews College, Eagle's Nest Camp, and elsewhere. The summer camp is a natural outgrowth of her interest in and love of children and horses. Susan teaches lessons year-round, takes students to shows and riding to hounds. Susan rode her horse Penn Park to the 2005 North American Field Hunter Championship.

Susan is an ANRC Level 5 Rider, National Judge, and Steward.

Kris Deal

boysatcamp.jpg (67249 bytes) At Eagle's Nest Camp in NC, Kris spent many summers as White-water Canoe Director. Kris earned his BA in English at St. Andrews College, where he also serves on the Alumni Council. He received an M.Ed. in English Education at Lynchburg College and teaches at Highland School.

Mandi Dillon

Mandi started riding at age 5 with Nancy Dillon in Philomont, VA. She showed in the hunters and jumpers and foxhunted extensively throughout her childhood. Mandi worked for Salamander Farm and Bill Moroney and took adults and children on the A Show circuit. She continues to ride, show and hunt while teaching at Grovespring. She is also getting her M.Ed. and is teaching kindergarten at Emerald Hill Elementary School.

Mary Burns

Our neighbor, Mary has taught lessons at Grovespring for the past three years. She has her own farm where she rides and breeds Connemaras. In addition to breeding, she is bringing along a young horse. She enjoys trail riding, showing and working with children. She has a lot of patience and is excellent at instilling confidence in young children.
